Prospective Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink will ask Roman Abramovich to patch things up with Ray Wilkins and reinstate him as part of the backroom staff at Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman, who worked with Wilkins during his four-month spell in charge in 2009, is expected to be announced as Chelsea manager by the end of the week.
Hiddink wants to establish a familiar team of staff behind him and reinstating Wilkins is top of his priority list.

The former England midfielder was sacked in October of last year after falling out with owner Roman Abramovich and the Russian would have to swallow his pride if he were to welcome him back.
Wilkins' departure from the club was the catalyst for an alarming slump which ruined Chelsea's season and cost Carlo Ancelotti his job.
The pair reportedly fell out after a row over Ancelotti's tactical approach with Wilkins hauled out of touchline duties during a reserve game.

A debacle over a compensation package ensued and it is uncertain whether Wilkins, who first played for the club way back in 1973, would want to return.
Wilkins said only last month: 'My time is done with Chelsea. When you put in as much money as Mr Abramovich, you are entitled to choose what you want to do.
'He didn't want me so I am no longer there. Back then I was cheesed off but I am not one of those guys who would keep saying I should be still there. It is part of my life which is done and dusted.'
Despite this, Hiddink will ask the Russian billionaire to sanction a formal approach to the man who has also worked under Gianluca Vialli and Luiz Felipe Scolari at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's chief executive Ron Gourlay - who also fell out with Wilkins - confirmed that a new manager will be appointed 'within the next week or two'.
But Gourlay refused to be drawn on whether that man is Hiddink.
He said: 'As far as the manager is concerned, the process is going well but now is not the time for me to comment on who the next manager is going to be.
'We will announce things in the usual way but hopefully in the next week or two, we'll be in a position to announce who our new coach will be.

'I don't think it's right to comment at this stage. I don't want to create any speculation, we'll make an announcement when we're ready and we'll see the new coach when we arrive next month.'
